SMS Messaging Practices

SitterChat uses SMS messaging to help you coordinate babysitting services. This page explains our SMS practices and how you can manage your preferences.

Types of Messages You May Receive

  • Verification Codes: One-time codes to verify your phone number when signing in.
  • Booking Confirmations: Notifications when a sitter accepts or declines a booking request.
  • Booking Reminders: Reminders about upcoming babysitting appointments.
  • Sitter Outreach: Messages to sitters in your network when you need childcare.

How to Opt-In

When you sign up for SitterChat, you will be asked to check a consent checkbox agreeing to receive SMS messages. This consent is required to use our service, as SMS is the primary way we communicate booking information.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your usage of the service. You will receive messages when:

  • You sign in and need a verification code
  • You create a booking request and we contact sitters
  • A sitter responds to your booking request
  • You have an upcoming appointment

Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

How to Opt-Out

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from SitterChat. You will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS messages from us.

Note: Opting out of SMS will affect your ability to use certain features of the service, such as phone verification and booking notifications.
